Description

Moist and Fluffy Red Velvet Cake in just a few simple steps. 

This cake is the perfect selection to grace all your events.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of Goldband margarine.
  • 1 ½  cups caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup Sungold Lite
  • 1 ½ tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp red food colour
  • 3 tsp vanilla essence
  • 3 All Purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp Mariandazi Baking Powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup of natural yoghurt
  • 1½ tsp salt.

Directions

Preheat the oven to 175°C. In a bowl, cream together Goldband margarine, caster sugar, salt, Sungold Lite and vanilla essence until Pale.
Add in the eggs and mix in until fully incorporated. Gradually add in the natural yoghurt and mix until fully combined.
In a separate bowl, mix in the dry ingredients (flour, Mariandazi Baking Powder, Baking Soda and Cocoa Powder). Add in the food colour and whisk in until
Add in the dry ingredients and fold in with a mwiko/spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Pour the cake batter into a baking tin and bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean. Let cool then frost the cake with your favourite frosting.
