Description

These crumbly and buttery treats are a quick whip and perfect accompaniment for your 4 o’clock tea.

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups AP flour
  • 2 tsp Mariandazi Baking Powder
  • ¼ tbsp salt
  • 3/4 cup cold butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold milk
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/3 cup raisins

Directions

Preheat the oven to 200c. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and Mariandazi baking powder. Add cold butter and rub till breadcrumb texture.
Mix milk, vanilla, and beaten eggs. Knead quickly to prevent the Margarine from melting. Add raisins and fold them into the dough until well distributed.
Generously dust your working surface and transfer your dough. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to desired thickness. Cut out circles using a glass or cookie cutter and set them aside on a baking tray
Roll out the excess dough repeating the cutting process until all the dough is done. Brush each scone with beaten egg and bake for 12 minutes. Serve with clotted Cream and Homemade Raspberry Jam. Enjoy.
